Interesting reading about a network, led by two Brazilian female scientists, researching the impact of family and society expectations on women’s career choices.
According to their findings “Parents’ concerns revolved around their daughters’ future financial stability and job security. There seemed to be a lack of understanding (and sometimes appreciation) of what it meant to be a scientist.” which translates into discouragement for any pursuit of becoming a scientist.
